Welcome to the Modesto City Schools Virtual High School Program otherwise known as the Modesto Virtual Academy (MVA) . We are proud to now offer MVA to students within our school district. MVA is also available to students living in the following counties: Stanislaus, San Joaquin, Merced,Calaveras, Tuolumne, Santa Clara, Mariposa, and Alameda.
With a computer and access to the Internet, students can now complete the coursework online as a full-time education solution. Classes, assignments tests, labs and activities are all accessed online. Students receive the same high-quality, high school education, only with far more flexibility.
The flexibility to meet many different student needs.
Whether students are homebound; desire seasonal flexibility during summer; require make-up classes; or simply seek a new class not available in our traditional school classroom curriculum, the online program can meet their needs. It allows them to stay on pace and graduate on time.
Students can move much faster through material they find easier, without waiting for classmates to catch up. This allows them extra time on more challenging topics: re-reading a passage, re-working a problem or redoing a lab experiment, without feeling rushed or left behind.
- Students attend class by logging into their computer via their Internet connection anytime day or night. They attend class, complete assignments, and take tests almost entirely online.
- Students progress at the best pace for their individual learning style, schedule and comfort level, while still staying on track to earn a diploma and prepare for college.
- Students ask questions and get personalized help from assigned teachers. These teachers stay in touch regularly to ensure that each student progresses successfully.
- Upon satisfactory completion of all required credits, the student then earns his/her high school diploma.
